The XIII Olympic Winter Games will be held for 17 days from 9 to 25 February 2018 in PyeongChang, Gangwon Province, the Republic of Korea. The Olympic Winter Games will be held in Korea for the first time in 30 years after the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988. PyeongChang will be the stage for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and most snow sports. Alpine speed events will take place in Jeongseon, and all ice sports will be competed in the coastal city of Gangneung.

by Alan Simpson - Monday, 29 January 2018, 2:10 AM

Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening, depending on what time of day it is.

Hello, is so much more convenient.

Here is my almost exhaustive introduction to the activities and content functions you can select.

However, unfortunately, I am not yet proficient in many. Nevertheless, it was very useful for me to explore the wide variety of tools available. If you take the time to watch my video, thank-you.

And have a nice week,

Best Regards,

Alan

My attitude to student engagement
by Olga Zinovieva - Saturday, 13 January 2018, 10:39 PM

For me it is definitely one of the most important things. I try to make sure  that all my students are participating that they all are having a good and efficient time. I just can't imagine my students are daydreaming or chatting online... I do my best to involve them appealing to their interest in the forst place. I work as an after school teacher in additional education center and I would like to see my students less exhausted and demotivated by boring and long school lessons.

Do most students hate school in your countries as much as in Russia?

What is our role as teachers?
by Olga Zinovieva - Sunday, 14 January 2018, 8:50 PM

I believe in a teacher that motivates and encourages. I think a teacher should be the one who makes the learning process an exciting and efficient experience. As for Moodles it is much the same. But he also must know very  well how to use this platform in the best way.

Hi Olga,

I strongly agree with you as regards the role of a teacher in the classroom. however, it's sometimes a tough task. You have to get to know your students very well in order to engage all of them in the same way and sometimes, that's almost impossible.

Agree, Olga and Graciela!
We need to be super fast trying to understand our Ss needs and goals to inspire them in the right way!
Cordially,
Anastasiia

THANK YOU. HAVING BEEN IN THIS COURSE NOW FOR 2 WEEKS, I CAN ALSO ADD, THAT I THINK THE FRUSTRATION LEVEL IN MOODLES FOR A STUDENT CAN BE IMMENSELY HIGHER THEN THAT OF THE CLASSROOM. SO "TO FLIP" THAT SENTENCE, I WOULD SAY, THAT IN A TRADITIONAL CLASSROOM, STUDENT FRUSTRATION MIGHT BE MINIMIZED BECAUSE THE TEACHER CAN MODEL/DEMONSTRATE/ANSWER/EXPLAIN IMMEDIATELY (OR ALSO A PEER STUDENT CAN). IN THE CASE OF MOODLE, A DEMONSTRATION BY THE TEACHER CAN NOT BE TIMED AT THE TIME OF A STUDENT'S FRUSTRATION, AND THE STUDENT CAN ONLY MINIMIZE IT BY DOING INDEPENDENT RESEARCH TO FIND THE ANSWERS (WHICH CAN ALSO BE FRUSTRATING).

THIS IS A BENEFIT OF THE CLASSROOM.

A TEACHER IN MOODLE CAN ADDRESS THAT FRUSTRATION AND PROVIDE FEEDBACK/VIDEO INSTRUCTION/COMMENT ETC BUT IT IS AFTER THE FACT- AND IN  MY OPINION LESS BENEFICIAL, UNLESS THE TEACHER HAD INITIALLY EXPLAINED ANTICIPATED FRUSTRATIONS.

THANKS FOR LETTING ME SHARE THAT.

Hi Olga,

to me being a  teacher in classroom and teacher in Moodle  are similar  in some elements of teaching but essentially very different .

Nothing can change emotional support, understanding and the joy of success due to the acquired knowledge evoked by teacher.
