Greetings everyone from Penang Malaysia, where I have retired after teaching English to ELLs for over 40 years.
If you believe that you might also believe that I hold a degree in Biology in addition to my MAESL.
In my last teaching job I taught writing to multiple classes averaging around 20 students (more or less) who were unfortunately not very motivated to improve their writing. It was hard to keep their attention let along keep them on task, so I developed techniques using the voice capabilities of mobile devices which would allow me to circulate among them in the classroom and give them comments which I could speak into my iPad and they would see on their computers (it works with mobile phones as well).
If you are interested in learning more, I am conducting a workshop to demonstrate the technique. The workshop is on Sunday August 4 at 14:00 UTC. If you would like to participate in the workshop (as opposed to just attend it) you can help by preparing something quickly beforehand (or even at the start of the demonstration, should only take you a minute).
If planning to participate, please,
Create a document in Google Docs
Title it MMVC19 and your name
Briefly, in two or three sentences, introduce yourself, tell me why you are here, and what you hope to learn from this workshop
Share your document for editing with email@example.com
Hope to see you there

Always a pleasure to work with you too.
Regarding my workshop at 14:00 UTC today, I have written it all out at this Google Doc, https://docs.google.com/document/d/11GHi_E7u1yfcgsOW7DapcjLr9O9OCWKID3eQm3K9ljA/edit?usp=sharing.
You can access the slides here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1DU67TWYqF2MxW0h36Js23upkTZKlw7oLsmVoi5nEUH8/edit?usp=sharing.
If you are planning to attend, please help me simulate a class for the workshop by doing this:
- Create a document in Google Docs
- Title it MMVC19 and your name
- Briefly, in just two or three sentences, introduce yourself, tell me why you are here, and what you hope to learn in this workshop
- Share your document, for editing, with vancestev which is my Google account.
I just need two or three people to do this and I can show in my workshop how I work in this way with my students.
Thanks, and hope to see you there,
Thanks a lot Vance for sharing the link.
I just sent you my Doc.
Looking forward to your presentation and workshop.
Thanks all who attended my presentation,
Now you can see the complete show notes: write-up, link to the slides, read the chat logs, and at some point replay the video, from where I blogged the event as Learning2gether episode 417
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to participate in this stimulating event,
